Alex Maclean: Floating Daisy Docks
This photo was taken by photographer Alex Maclean. It is titled 'Floating Daisy Docks'. The camera angle used was from an arial view, shooting straight down at the boats. The photo is radial balanced. Maclean did not use the element of the Rule of Thirds for this shot. There are many clear focal points in the picture. The subject of the photo is clearly the boats. The viewers eye goes right to the bright white boats because of the contrast between them and the dark black background. The photo is horizontal, like most of Maclean's work. It is effective in this position. Maclean has created a sense of positive and negative space with this photograph. There is also a sense of depth created by the photographer. The viewers eye is lead through the photo, in between the daisy dots and in circles around them. The subject matter of this photo is extremely creative. When I first looked at the picture, I didn't know what it was. I thought it was actually a fabric with a daisy print on it. Little did I know that it was really boat docks and sailboats docked at them.
